Shabbat

Kabbalat Shabbat ("Welcoming Shabbat") services are held on selected Friday nights throuhgout the year and most Fridays during the summer months. This service begins at 6:15 PM and includes a brief D'var Torah (teaching message) from the clergy. However, it does not include reading from the Torah, so it is a bit shorter than the typical Friday night worship service.

Shabbat Chai is a monthly service with a focus on music, featuring Temple Chai's Tefillah (worship) band, The Fabulous Tchotchkees. Special musical selections and an original liturgy are used throughout the service to bring a unique spirituality to the prayers we read on Friday night. Shabbat Chai services are held either at 6:15 PM or 8:00 PM with a Torah service.

Family Services are held once a month during the school year, beginning at 7:30 PM. This service is "child friendly" so that even young children can have a meaningful worship experience.  Family worship includes birthday blessings for those young people - and "young at heart" adults - who are celebrating birthdays during the month. Sometimes we're visited by Rabbi Soul from Ishkabibble, Minnesota or his friend and colleague, Rabbi Love, who hails from Jupiter, Florida.

Traditional Shabbat Worship is held on various Friday evenings, beginning at 8:00 PM. This service includs a reading from the Torah and a brief D'var Torah (teaching message) from the clergy.

Saturday Morning Minyan is held every Saturday morning, year round, beginning at 10:30 AM. Often facilitated by experienced and capable lay leaders, this is an intimate, participatory service that includes readings from both Torah and Haftarah, followed by a short Kiddush.

Tot Shabbat is held on various Friday evenings at 6:30 PM and Saturday mornings at 9:30 AM throughout the school year.  This brief service is a wonderful opportunity for our youngest kids (pre-K to kindergarten) to enjoy a Shabbat experience alongside thier parents and grandparents. Come ready to sing, dance and learn as we welcome Shabbat together.
