Lifelong Jewish Learning is dedicated to offering meaningful programs that will enhance Jewish education for the adults of our congregation. It is our goal to bring new and innovative ideas that will excite and stimulate the mind and spirit, while encouraging participation at a level unique to each individual.

There is always a warm greeting, a cup of coffee (usually a nosh) and the chance to learn with your temple family. Please join us.


AJEC Summer Series
Wednesdays, 10:00 - 11:30 AM

The Adult Jewish Education Co-op of the Northwest Suburbs (AJEC) presents it's 5th Who's Got the Power? series, three consecutive Wednesday mornings, July 23rd - August 6th, 10:00 - 11:30 AM, with lunch following the lecture, at Studio J, next store to the Jacob Duman JCC at Woodland Commons.  In celebration of Israel's 60th anniversay, the series includes three diverse, much sought after speakers reflecting on the influence of women in the six decades of statehood. Introduction to Judaism - Fall 2008
Offered jointly by URJ and The Chicago Association of Reform Rabbis

This is a semester long course covering topics of how to live Jewishly.  Classes will be offered on Tuesday evenins at Temple Beth El in Northbrook and Thursday evenings at Chicago Sinai Congregation in Chicago. Temple Chai Leadership Development Program
Thursdays, 7:30 PM

Gain an understanding of what it means to serve on the Board of Trustees at Temple Chai.  The program will have six sessions:

September 4th - Spirituality and Leadership
October 30th - Religion and Money
January 29th - The History of Temple Chai
February 26th - Membership
April 30th - Union for Reform Judaism
June 4th - A Nuts and Bolts Guide to Leadership at Temple Chai

Breakfast with the Rabbi - Sundays, 11:15 AM - 12:30 PM
In an informal setting, share lox, bagels and Jewish ideas with the Rabbi.

 

Sunday School for Grown-Ups - Sunday Mornings 9:00 - 10:30 AM
No stupid questions! An informal discussion with your clergy on the basics of Jewish thought and practice.

 

Adult Hebrew - Tuesday Evenings 7:30 - 9:00 PM
Level I - No prior knowlege of Hebrew is necessary
Level II - For students with basic reading knowledge

Participation in adult bat/bar mitzvah is available for members of our congregation.

The URJ awards a KEVA Certificate of Recognition to individuals who complete 100 hours of adult Jewish study.





A Taste of Torah - Every Shabbat Morning

Explore the rich and fascinating stories of the Five Books of Moses through invigorating and exciting discussions of the weekly parsha (Torah portion) with an emphasis on its relevance to our everyday lives. No prior knowledge of Hebrew or registration is required.

9:00 AM -  Informal Torah study discussion
10:30 AM - Shabbat morning participatory minyan
