Temple Chai was founded in 1972 thanks to the tireless efforts of a small group of volunteer families. Volunteerism is at the very heart of the character of Temple Chai and we rely on the dedication of our volunteers to help us run the many programs, classes and events we offer here at our synagogue.

Please consider sharing some of your valuable time with us. Take a moment to learn about our new Chai Helpers program.

CHAI HELPERS

“To be part of a community, to shape it and to strengthen it is the most urgent, the most vital obligation facing the Jewish people.”
Elie Wiesel

This fall, Temple Chai is launching a new initiative called the Chai Helpers. This program will match our wonderful congregants with volunteer opportunities in and around the temple when it is convenient for them. Our vision is to assist you in developing a Sacred Connection to Temple Chai.

Who are the Chai Helpers?

They are you. They are me. They are all of us. They are temple volunteers contributing their time to many needed tasks in and around the temple. Everyone is encouraged to join the team!

What tasks are needed?

The sky’s the limit! Some volunteer opportunities are answering phones, copying and filing, cooking a meal for a family in need, mailings, helping set up or serving at Shabbat Dinners, visiting someone in the hospital, ushering at Friday night or Saturday morning services, gardening, baking for onegs, helping committees when they need extra assistance on events or programs and much more. Tell us what your talents, skill sets or expertise is and we’ll match that need to the needs of the temple.

When?

Do you have a couple hours during the week to help the temple? Are you in the temple waiting for your child to finish religious school or being tutored? Do you want to volunteer in the evening or on weekends? You pick the time that’s convenient for you and we’ll try to make a match.

Where?

At the temple, off site for projects or possibly in the comfort of your own home, are just a few examples of where you are needed.

Why?

Because we need you! Be part of something important by making the Sacred Connection with your temple community. What a meaningful way to make a difference! It will not cost you any money, but your time means so much to Temple Chai! All you need to do is fill out a Volunteer Profile Page and we will match your talents and time commitment with the available volunteer opportunities.

So if you want to create relationships, want to feel needed and know that you make a difference, Chai Helpers is for YOU!

Don't wait another minute, join the Chai Helpers team!
